GALBIATE
In 2016 we worked with the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Milan to produce a study on the rural Lombardia region of Galbiate.
Whilst being dominated by its mountainous landscape, the region has seen an influx of industrial manufacturing works over the previous century. Galbiate is only 25 miles northeast of Milan, Italy’s foremost industrial and economic centres.
Within the communities settled in the mountains and around the lakes are the remnants of traditional hill farming, freshwater fishing and other historical rural activities. There is no escaping the impact of leisure, and agro-tourism provides an increasing diversification for rural farms along with recreational pursuits from skiing to horse riding.
