LOIMAA
In 2014 Robins and Udy worked with SARKA (Finnish National Museum of Agriculture) to produce a study of rural life in the Länsi-Suomen lääni region.
Loimaa, situated in the Southwest of Finland, is part of a large area of traditional agricultural land dominated by the flat plains and (relative) lack of lakes. The area is known for its arable farming, giving it the reputation of being the breadbasket of the country.
As with many rural regions of Europe, the shift to globalised food production means that increasingly the landscape is a mixture of traditional smaller patterns of agriculture, corporatised forms of agri-business and rural-based leisure activities.
